Valuing Volunteers Events

Valuing Volunteers Events (VVE) are an opportunity for LSV to recognise, thank and reward our lifesaving members.

Volunteers contribute thousands of hours to lifesaving each year in a wide range of roles. In the 2021-22 season more than ever, we have seen how every one of these vital roles has played a significant part within the lifesaving movement. Our members are responsible for so many tasks from vital beach patrols between the red and yellow flags to providing leadership as members of a committee, right through to running the BBQ every weekend – and every contribution is invaluable.

Valuing Volunteers Events events form part of Life Saving Victoria’s annual National Volunteer Week celebrations and applaud the incredible contributions of our diverse, skilled and committed Victorian members.

We are excited to share details about the 2022 Valuing Volunteers Events below. Scroll down to learn more.

How we recognise members - Nominations open

National Volunteer Week 2022 and the Valuing Volunteers Events are an opportunity to showcase the vital contributions of our members.

Members have the opportunity to be recognised through their club, at regional events such as VVE as well as a state level (Awards of Excellence) in a range of categories.

Nominations are now open until Sunday, 8 May. Take a look at the Member Recognition Manual below to find out more about the 2022 VVE award categories and how you can say a very special thank you to your members.

In the following club recognition kit, you’ll find more information about both the Valuing Volunteers Events and nominations, as well as the Awards of Excellence (AoE). We’ve also provided you with assets and ideas to share across your channels to help ensure our members are recognised, celebrated and informed.

The Valuing Volunteers Events are an informal end of season social celebration designed to thank our grass roots volunteers for their invaluable contribution to lifesaving, as well as an opportunity to come together with your fellow lifesavers as the season draws to a close. This year we’re excited to bring these events closer to home for our members, and to say our thank you within the community that our members have made their extraordinary impact.

National Volunteer Week 2022

National Volunteer Week is an annual celebration, designed to thank volunteers across Australia for their tireless efforts in a wide variety of roles. The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Better Together’.

“Volunteering brings people together; it builds communities and creates a better society for everyone. National Volunteer Week is a chance for all of us to celebrate and recognise the vital work of volunteers and to say thank you. Together, through volunteering, we are changing communities for the better. We are, Better Together.” – Volunteering Australia.

Clubs can visit the Volunteering Australia website for further information, or to access resources.

Further to this, Life Saving Victoria has created a National Volunteer Week resource pack to provide you with some guidance on how you can mark the occasion, and to support you with your club celebrations.
