SINK OR SWIM has been developed in direct response to an increased trend in drowning deaths of children aged 5-14 years and the need for inland waterway safety education in Victoria.
The program aims to enhance the student’s knowledge and understanding of a range of aquatic environments but in particular; beaches, rivers, lakes, dams and creeks. SINK OR SWIM focuses on the student’s relationship with water, while enhancing their capacity to make safer choices in aquatic environments, thereby preventing dangerous situations, accidents and drowning.
In 2013, Life Saving Victoria combined the new SINK OR SWIM program with our existing MEET A LIFEGUARD program. The result; An innovative and engaging program designed to educate participants to make safe aquatic related decisions while enjoying inland, pool and coastal environments. The session also aims to reinforce the key water safety messages as taught by teachers through the suite of lesson plans.
The SINK OR SWIM Meet a Lifeguard sessions are 1-hour in length, involves a classroom visit from a lifesaver and includes many practical activities to get your students moving.

SESSION DETAILS:
Participant numbers – Suggested maximum of 150 participants per session, no minimum
Program duration – 1 hour (times can be flexible)
COST:
$273.00 minimum flat fee for one session – Includes 50 participants (every participant after incurs a minimal fee)
Additional 1 hour sessions at a minimal fee
