School Swimming and water safety toolkit
Life Saving Victoria run various professional development (PD) opportunities for schools and the aquatic industry. PD opportunities include: workshop, teacher training sessions, theory and scenario based activities. We also have a brand new pod cast series which people can listen to at any time that suits them to keep up to date with the latest schools swimming information.
Life Saving Victoria have recently developed the Life Saving Victoria Pod Channel. Each week, LSV share weekly podcast episodes to provide listeners with key information about swimming and water safety, relevant lifesaving updates, as well as resources and ideas for schools and aquatic facilities. This podcast supports educators and swim instructors to learn about programs that LSV offer to schools and communities, how instructors and educators can develop the best quality programs, and key information about regulations and laws.

Life Saving Victoria are providing FREE PD to industry personnel once per month through the Aquatic, Fitness and Recreation (AFAR) Professional Development series.
These sessions will be held on the 2nd week of every month – starting 12th August 2020.
The session will be divided into three themes:
10am-10:30am – Safety & Operations
10:30-11:00am – Swimming and Water Safety Education
11:00-11:30am – Leadership

Engaging CALD students in swimming and water safety
This workshop provides new approaches and tailored strategies for engaging CALD students in swimming and water safety. Hear tips and tricks from aquatic facilities, primary schools and LSV Multicultural Projects to develop culturally sensitive programs and overcome the barriers to participation.
The aim of this event was to invigorate school swimming and water safety programs and inspire cross curricular approaches for the delivery of the swimming and water safety component of the Victorian Curriculum. See links below to view event presentations.
