First Aid Training Courses Melbourne
Life Saving Victoria’s First Aid Training Course in Melbourne and regional Victoria are recommended for any person employed as an occupation health and safety or first aid representative or who needs the qualification for their work. It is also recommended for anybody working as a care worker, sports coach, trainer, educator, or a person working in a high risk environment.
Mental Health First Aid
This course will equip candidates to provide initial support to other adults who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves, using a practical, evidence based Action Plan. This course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals.
The course covers mental health problems including depression, anxiety, psychosis, substance use. It also covers mental health crises including suicidal thoughts and behaviours, non-suicidal self-injury, panic attacks, traumatic events, severe psychotic states, severe effects from alcohol or other drug use and aggressive behaviours.
Successful completion of this course will result in the award of:

Mental Health First Aider Accreditation (opt in via MHFA Australia)
Evaluations consistently show that Mental Health First Aid training is associated with improved knowledge of mental illnesses, their treatments and appropriate first aid strategies, and confidence in providing first aid to individuals with mental illness. It is also associated with decreased stigma and an increase in help provided.
This is a 12-hour course which is usually delivered as either a 2-day training package (6 hours per day), or as 4 separate modules (3 hours each).

This course will equip candidates with the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults within an education and care setting, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies
Specific licensing requirements, including requirements for refresher training, should be obtained from the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) and/or relevant state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authority.

Life Saving Victoria’s new Education and Child Care First Aid course will provide participants with the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid, emergency life support and manage common injuries and conditions that may arise when caring for children.
The course covers requirements for first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis management that satisfies National Regulations in accordance with the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).
The Education and Child Care First Aid course is recommended for those working in preschool, day care and outside of school hours (OOSH) care services, as well as teachers, parents and carers of young children.
