What are the Benefits of Learning CPR Today?
CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation) is an important skill that everyone in Australia, both young and old should consider taking the time to learn. No longer should you need to be a medical professional, life saver or civil servant to know or administer CPR. You never know when the time may come that you are required to use these vital skills to potentially save the life of someone you love or even a stranger you’ve never met.
Taking the time to learn CPR and the ability to save lives, if and when the situation arises is a lifelong skill that should be given serious consideration by each and every member of society. In Australia, around 30,000 people suffer a sudden cardiac arrest each year. Unfortunately only 9-10% of these people will survive. By undertaking a CPR Training Session with Life Saving Victoria, we can only expect to see this number improve.
Empowerment Through Education
Understanding the fundamental skills of CPR empowers you to help someone in their time of need. A family member, friend, colleague, or perhaps someone you’ve never met before. You could be their hero. For parents this is particularly poignant. Children under the age of 5 frequently put small objects in their mouths, and it goes without saying, this behaviour can quickly lead to choking. Choking is one of the primary causes of death in children. Identifying when a child is having difficulty breathing and most importantly understanding how to perform CPR when this situation arises and potentially save a life, is a skill you will certainly not regret taking the time to learn.
CPR Saves Lives
Circumstances may arise when you are met with an individual whose breathing or heart has stopped. Prompt action with CPR is the most effective way to potentially save the life of someone, whilst waiting for an ambulance to arrive. Administering CPR could mean the difference between life and death for an unconscious person.
It is always more beneficial to have multiple people who are trained in the necessary skills to correctly perform CPR in an emergency. One person performing CPR can quickly become tired. Two people expertly trained in CPR can alternate with each other and supply CPR longer than one person working by themselves. So why not get a group of friends together and organise a CPR training course with Life Saving Victoria?
Don’t Hesitate. Set a Date!
Chances are far greater that you will need to administer CPR on someone you know. Close to 80% of respiratory problems and cardiac arrests take place in the home or at work. Due to the fact you’re far more likely to provide CPR for a friend, relative or workmate, this life saving skill becomes all the more vital.
Don’t wait another day!
