Pool operators have a legal obligation to manage the risks to human health arising from pathogenic micro-organisms in pool water. This requirement is set out through the Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations and explained further in the DHHS Water Quality Guidelines for Public Aquatic Facilities.
This course meets the training requirements of the regulations and includes design and content input by DHHS. The course is a must for any person responsible for the testing, treatment or maintenance of water quality and plant operations at Council, learn to swim, school, fitness centre, apartment, body corporate, hotel, motel, holiday, caravan park or theme park swimming pool facilities.
This course will equip participants with the skills and knowledge to safely contribute to the water treatment and plant operations of an aquatic facility. The course focus includes monitoring and maintaining pool water quality, operating plant / equipment, risk management and developing maintenance programs.

There are over 175,000 swimming pools of all shapes and sizes in Victoria. They can be found in backyards, hotels, camping venues, body corporate building or at multi-million dollar multi-facility Leisure Centres.
Life Saving Victoria’s Aquatic Technical Operators course is ideal for pool owners and aquatic industry personnel responsible for the monitoring of pool water quality or the maintenance of plant equipment. It’s also a great qualification for pool lifeguards and swimming teachers who wish to broaden their skills and knowledge (and career opportunities) within the aquatics industry.
