LSV are proud to have recently launched our suite of Swim Teacher Training to support the Victorian Learn to Swim Industry. These courses include the entry level Swimming and Water Safety Teacher course, as well as the two key extension courses supporting teachers working with infants / toddler and people with disabilities.

LSV Swim Teacher courses are recommended for any person wishing to achieve employment as a Swim Teacher in the aquatic industry or existing Swim Teachers looking to maintain currency while extending their skills and knowledge. All courses delivered are in line with the Guidelines for Safer Pool Operations.

Swim Teacher Course

This course will equip candidates with the skills and knowledge required to deliver swimming lessons. The course focus includes the role of the swim teacher, water safety, aquatic rescue, teaching strategies, water familiarisation, swimming strokes and safe diving.

Successful completion of this course will result in the award of:

SISSS00112 Swimming and Water Safety Teacher

SISCAQU002 Perform basic water rescues
SISCAQU008 Instruct water familiarisation, buoyancy and mobility skills
SISCAQU009 Instruct water safety and survival skills
SISCAQU010 Instruct swimming strokes

LSV Swim Teacher is officially known as ‘SISSS00112 Swimming and Water Safety Teacher’, the course is the nationally recognised training for Swim Teachers in Victoria.

This course is recommended for any person wishing to achieve employment as a Swim Teacher in the aquatic industry and is a required qualification for staff in this position. The focus of this course is fundamental water rescue skills, session planning and instructing others in the skills required for swimming and water safety.

Once your Swimming and Water Safety Teacher Skill Set is issued you will have the opportunity to apply for an LSV Swim Teacher Licence as outlined in the Guidelines for Safer Pool Operations.

Teacher of Infant and Toddler

Teacher of Infant and Toddler Courses

LSV are proud to announce the launch of the new LSV Teacher of Infant and Toddler course. Officially known as ‘SISCAQU011 Promote development of infants and toddlers in an aquatic environment.’ This course is the latest addition to LSV’s suite of nationally recognised training for Swim Teachers aimed at promoting the development of infants and toddlers over 6 months of age in an aquatic environment.

Successful completion of this course will result in the award of:

Course OverviewCourse Outline

This course will deliver the skills and knowledge required to select an appropriate progression of activities to promote the development of infants and toddlers over 6 months of age in an aquatic environment.

It applies to those conducting learn-to-swim and water safety classes in swimming pools and confined natural shallow water venues. This course will ensure that work is performed according to relevant legislation including working with children and/or vulnerable people checks, organisational policies and procedures and best practice principles of aquatic activities.

Candidates attending this course should hold a current SISSS00112 Swimming and Water Safety Teacher prior to attending, this course is an extension course for Swim Teachers looking to gain specialist knowledge in teaching infants and toddlers in the pool.

This course will deliver the skills and knowledge required to identify the needs of participants with a disability, assist them to safely enter and exit the water and to provide appropriate support during aquatic activities.

This course will deliver the skills and knowledge required to identify the needs of participants with a disability, assist them to safely enter and exit the water and to provide appropriate support during aquatic activities.

This course is suitable for those Swim Teachers conducting learn-to-swim and water familiarisation classes in swimming pools or confined natural shallow water venues. All training delivered is in accordance to relevant legislation, public health regulatory requirements and organisational policies and procedures.

Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

CPR Training Courses

Designed for safe delivery during the COVID-19 State of Emergency this course combines interactive self-paced e-learning with live webinar training and assessment with qualified trainers. Course sizes are between 4 and 8 candidates with equipment supplied for each individual.

Life Saving Victoria’s CPR course in Melbourne will provide you with the skills and knowledge to be able to confidently take control of potentially life threatening emergencies until professional assistance arrives.

The course focus includes cover the signs and symptoms and treatment options for incidents including first aid and CPR / breathing conditions.

The CPR training course is ideal for all Victorians, but in particular those who have the responsibility for the care of another or have the duty of care towards a person in their personnel or professional lives.

In-Service Swim Teacher

In-Service Swim Teacher

LSV are committed to supporting in-service training across all aquatic facilities. These vital skills maintenance and professional development sessions are an additional requirement to formal qualifications and are clearly defined in the GSPO. In an effort to encourage in-service delivery LSV has developed a training package to cover your first aid and aquatic safety needs.

“GSPO. SU2. 5.4 All other Swimming and water safety teachers should participate in a minimum of four organised training sessions per year to ensure currency of necessary skills and competencies. These can include program specific curriculum competencies and assessments, stroke progression and development, open water topics, personal development such as communication, teaching strategies etc.”

Four sessions (2.5hrs each – up to 24 staff): One Trainer (plus equipment).

“GSPO. SU2.5.3 Swimming and water safety teachers working at a seasonal pool should participate in a facility specific in-service training session at the aquatic facility they are employed at just prior to the start of the season and one at least every three months thereafter until the close of the season”

Two sessions (4hrs each – up to 24 staff): One Trainer (plus equipment).
