Celebrating Connection at the 2025 Pre-Season Forum

Celebrating Connection at the 2025 Pre-Season Forum
With seven concurrent presentation streams and a bustling tradeshow, the forum provided something for everyone, from club administrators and trainers to junior coordinators and executive leaders. Attendees explored topics ranging from governance and child safety to sport innovation and member development.
The day began with a warm welcome from David Marsh, President of Anglesea SLSC, in conversation with LSV President Susan Wolff. Their address set the tone for a day focused on collaboration, resilience, and continuous improvement.
Last week, Life Saving Victoria hosted its annual Pre-Season Forum at the Crown Promenade Conference Centre, bringing together nearly 400 passionate members from 55 clubs across the state. This full-day event marked a powerful start to the 2025/26 season, offering inspiration, practical insights, and a renewed sense of community.

Key highlights included:
- Critical Incident Response led by Dr Shannon Hood, offering vital strategies for supporting members during emergencies.
- Resilient Club Buildings presented by Brett Ellis from ResilientCo, sharing tools to strengthen clubs against environmental hazards.
- Child Safety insights from Morgan Lander of Not on My Watch, reinforcing our commitment to safeguarding young members.
- Nippers and Membership Development sessions, showcasing pathways and success stories in recruitment and retention.
- Treasurers Forum, a new addition, where volunteer treasurers shared best practices in financial management.
Interactive sessions like the Development Pathways Experience Fair and Member Recruitment and Retention workshop empowered clubs to build stronger, more inclusive communities. The tradeshow also featured a wide range of stallholders, offering resources and services to support club operations.
This year’s forum was a testament to the strength and dedication of our lifesaving community. As we head into the new season, we carry forward the knowledge, connections, and energy sparked by this event.
Thank you to all presenters, volunteers, and attendees who made the 2025 Pre-Season Forum a success. Together, we’re shaping a safer, more connected future for lifesaving in Victoria.
