Funding Opportunity: Local Sports Infrastructure Fund Now Open

Could your next aquatic infrastructure project be supported through State Government funding?
Local Sports Infrastructure Fund Now Open
The Victorian Government has opened applications for the 2026–27 Local Sports Infrastructure Fund (LSIF), providing an opportunity for local governments to secure funding for new and upgraded community sport and recreation infrastructure. Applications are open until 28 July 2026, with successful projects to be announced from October 2026.

The fund includes three streams:
- Community Facilities
- Community Sports Lighting
- Planning
While applications must be submitted by Victorian local government authorities or Alpine Resorts Victoria, aquatic facilities, community organisations and industry stakeholders are encouraged to work with their local councils to explore potential projects and funding opportunities
Why this matters for the aquatic industry
Investment in aquatic and recreation infrastructure plays a critical role in creating safer, more accessible and more inclusive environments for Victorian communities. Whether it's improving facility accessibility, upgrading ageing infrastructure, enhancing sustainability outcomes or planning future aquatic developments, funding programs such as the LSIF can help bring important projects to life.
At Life Saving Victoria, we continue to advocate for facilities that support community participation, water safety education and best-practice aquatic operations. We encourage aquatic facility operators and managers to engage with their local councils regarding potential funding opportunities that may align with strategic facility improvements and community needs.
For those considering future upgrades, the Victorian Public Pools State of the Sector Report 2024–25 also highlights key infrastructure trends, challenges and opportunities across Victoria's aquatic industry.
Applications close 5.00 pm on 28 July 2026. For more information, speak with your local council or visit the Sport and Recreation Victoria website.
