Life Saving Victoria is pleased to launch its new Aquatic Inflatable Assessment, a service designed to support the safe and effective operation of aquatic inflatables across Victoria.

As inflatable attractions continue to grow in popularity at aquatic facilities, it is more important than ever that operators have strong systems in place to manage risk, maintain safe operations and support staff to perform with confidence. LSV’s new assessment has been developed to help facilities do exactly that through an independent review of current practices, documentation and onsite operations.

The assessment is aligned with Australian Standard AS3533 and industry best practice, giving facilities a practical way to demonstrate their commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement. It looks at four key areas of inflatable operations: Risk Management, Administration, Supervision, and Inflatable Device Setup and Operation.

Facilities that undertake the assessment will receive a detailed Assessment Report and Risk Treatment Plan, including practical recommendations to strengthen safety systems and operational performance. The process is designed to help identify potential risks before they become incidents, while also supporting improvements in supervision, staff capability and operational consistency.

Importantly, the assessment gives facility owners and operators an opportunity to demonstrate due diligence and proactive risk management to key stakeholders, including councils, insurers, owners and the broader community.

The new assessment has been developed with industry input and endorsed by the LSV Platinum Pool Steering Committee, helping ensure it reflects current operational challenges and best-practice expectations across the sector.

As part of a soft launch, LSV has worked with Platinum Pools to test and refine the assessment approach in real facility settings. This has provided valuable feedback and helped shape a service that is practical, relevant and fit for purpose for Victorian aquatic facilities.

LSV would like to thank the pools involved in this testing phase: Mill Park Leisure, Splash Aqua Park and Leisure Centre, Sunbury Aquatic and Leisure Centre, and Oak Park Sports and Aquatic Centre. Their support and input have played an important role in the development of this new offering.
