Recognising Innovation and Inclusion in Water Safety
Our Aquatic Capability team have been delighted to see all their hard work come to fruition with a swag of awards recently for their most heartfelt work.
Partnering with our Education team, Inspire Group Australia were the designer for the online water safety program, Swim City. The Group were recognised at the Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards with a Silver award in Best Customer Training Program and Best Custom Content.
Since its launch in November 2021, Swim City has transformed how children learn water safety, responding to the challenges of cancelled school swimming programs during the pandemic. We are sure the beloved characters they created for the program—Splashy, Rocky, Finn, Pod, and Gabby—will continue to inspire young learners across Victoria.
Our education team continued with the good news when the Victorian Safer Swimmer Certificate (VSSC) received high commendation at the Victorian Disability Sport and Recreation Awards. Nominated for the Active Recreation and Leisure Initiative of the Year, the VSSC was developed in partnership with specialist school teachers, swim teachers, and aquatic professionals. Its inclusive, flexible assessment framework supports learners with disabilities, helping them build essential swimming and water safety skills.

Community-Led Change
Another highlight from this year’s awards season was the recognition of the Sikh community of the Siri Guru Nanak Darbar Sikh Temple in Officer. Receiving the President’s Certificate for their Safely Engaging with Water Program at the annual LSV Awards of Excellence, the program was launched following a tragic summer of drownings.
The program empowers adults, often overlooked in traditional swim programs, with swimming lessons, unlimited pool access, and water safety education. Over 230 participants from diverse backgrounds have already benefited.
Receiving the President’s Certificate, the Siri Guru Nanak Darbar group expressed pride in their community’s commitment to water safety: “This award recognises our commitment to promoting water safety and saving lives by empowering our community with the knowledge and skills to stay safe in and around water.”
These awards are an example of what’s possible when community, compassion, and innovation come together.
Congratulations to our hard-working teams, and to Inspire Group and the Sikh community. Lifesaving is not just about rescue; it’s about prevention, education, and empowering every individual to stay safe.
