Service Level Agreements

SLA's rollout - keep the momentum going
Following a remarkable summer and preceding twelve months that saw zero fatal drownings recorded at Victorian public pools, the message from across the aquatic industry is clear â well done, and thank you. This outcome is a direct reflection of the professionalism, vigilance and commitment demonstrated every day by facility operators and aquatic staff across the state.
As we move into the next phase of the year, Life Saving Victoria (LSV) is commencing the rollout of the 2026â27 Service Level Agreement (SLA) process, with facility operators set to receive their agreements over the coming weeks.
Â
What to Expect
The SLA process is a key opportunity to:
Reflect on the previous seasonâs performance
Reinforce your commitment to safety and compliance
Plan ahead to ensure your facility continues to operate at industry best practice
Operators should expect to receive their SLA shortly, along with guidance on how LSV can continue to support your team across supervision, training, compliance and community education.
Maintaining the zero record
While last seasonâs outcome is something the industry should be incredibly proud of, it also reinforces the importance of not becoming complacent.
Aquatic environments are inherently high-risk, and maintaining a zero-harm outcome relies on:
Consistent supervision and scanning practices
Strong internal procedures and training
Ongoing investment in staff capability
Embedding a culture of safety across all operations
Vigilance remains critical â every shift, every day.
Supporting Best Practice
LSV continues to work alongside facilities to ensure they are equipped with the tools, programs and services required to meet evolving expectations.
As part of this yearâs SLA cycle, operators are encouraged to consider how LSV programs can strengthen their safety framework, including:
SwimSafe â supporting structured, risk-based supervision for adult vulnerable adults
Watch Around Water (WAW) â promoting active supervision and child safety in aquatic environments
To support uptake, LSV is offering:
A discounted rate for facilities that adopt both SwimSafe and Watch Around Water
A $50 LSV Online Store voucher to assist with the purchase of program resources
These initiatives are designed to make it easier for facilities to embed leading safety practices while reinforcing clear, consistent messaging to staff and patrons.
Keep Up the Great Work
The results from the past 2 years demonstrate what can be achieved when the aquatic industry works together with a shared focus on safety.
As the SLA process gets underway, LSV encourages all operators to:
Continue building on the strong foundations already in place
Take advantage of available support and programs
Remain proactive in pursuing continuous improvement
Together, we can maintain this momentum and continue to set the standard for aquatic safety.
