This year’s Swim and Survive nominations showcase the important role aquatic facilities play in building safer, more confident and more connected communities across Victoria.

Delivered through Royal Life Saving Society Australia, Swim and Survive is a national swimming and water safety program that supports people to develop swimming, personal survival, basic rescue and lifesaving skills. In Victoria, Life Saving Victoria’s Swim and Survive partners bring this program to life every day through local pools, schools, community programs and dedicated aquatic teams.

The 2026 AOE nominations reflect the depth and quality of this work across the state. From regional communities to large aquatic facilities, nominees have demonstrated strong leadership in inclusion, innovation, community engagement and workforce development.

Bluewater Swim School - Colac Otway Shire

Bluewater Leisure Centre Swim School continues to show the value of regional access, supporting a broad rural catchment through school swimming, Learn to Swim pathways, race nights and inclusive programs that build pride and participation across Colac Otway Shire.

Leisurelink Webstar Swim School

Webstar’s Swim School at Leisurelink has highlighted the impact of innovation, with proactive assessment processes helping students progress more confidently while strengthening communication between teachers, families and pool deck teams.

The Sands Torquay Swim School

The Sands Torquay has shown how a community-focused swim school can provide consistent, local and inclusive water safety education in a regional coastal setting, while supporting local employment and strong connections with families.

Geelong Swimming Club Learn to Swim

The Geelong Swimming Club-affiliated swim school has demonstrated the power of practical support through initiatives such as additional in-class teaching, improved instructor training, disability swimming access and community events that bring families together beyond the lesson environment.

Together, these nominations show that Swim and Survive is about much more than swimming technique. It is about drowning prevention, confidence, belonging and making sure every person has the opportunity to safely enjoy the water.

The achievements of nominees will be celebrated at Life Saving Victoria’s 2026 Awards of Excellence, held on Saturday 15 August at Pullman Melbourne Albert Park. The annual event recognises outstanding contributions from lifesaving volunteers, clubs, aquatic professionals, water safety educators and organisations across the sector.

With tickets now on sale, the Awards of Excellence is an opportunity to come together, recognise the people and programs making a real difference, and celebrate the continued strength of Victoria’s lifesaving and aquatic industry.
