Turning passion into purpose

Approved training partner spotlight
Roger Abel Training Services
Life Saving Victoria's (LSV) Approved Partner Program was designed to bring together organisations that share a commitment to safer communities and stronger industry outcomes. One of the program's unique features is its flexibility, allowing partners to participate across one or multiple streams under a single agreement, depending on their expertise and business goals.
Roger Abel Training Services provides a great example of this in action.
For more than 25 years, Roger Abel has built a career around swimming, lifesaving, aquatics and training. What began as a passion for helping people stay safe around water has evolved into a successful business that delivers training to thousands of Victorians each year.
Recognising the impact quality education can have on both individual careers and community safety, Roger established Roger Abel Training Services with a focus on practical, high-quality training that prepares people to respond confidently when it matters most.
Today, the business delivers nationally recognised training programs across Victoria, supported by a team of experienced and accredited trainers with real-world lifesaving and emergency response experience.

Supporting industry through the training stream
As an Approved Partner within the Training Stream, Roger Abel Training Services delivers a range of LSV-endorsed programs that help aquatic facilities, workplaces, schools and community organisations meet their training requirements.
Their services include:
- CPR Training
- First Aid Training
- Pool Lifeguard Qualifications
- Training equipment and resources
While the aquatic industry remains a key area of expertise, Roger and his team work across a diverse range of sectors, delivering training to schools, kindergartens, childcare centres, workplaces, career education providers and community groups throughout Victoria.
A key benefit of the Approved Partner Program's Training Stream is the ability for partners to deliver nationally recognised training under the oversight and quality framework of Life Saving Victoria's RTO. This allows specialist providers such as Roger Abel Training Services to focus on delivering exceptional training while leveraging the quality assurance, compliance systems and industry recognition associated with LSV.
As Roger explains: "Our team meets the requirements of an RTO and of the Australian Quality Training Framework registered in Victoria. All courses are nationally accredited and endorsed through Life Saving Victoria."
Reflecting on what makes the business unique, Roger says: "We specialise in aquatic and first-aid training. Our accredited staff are qualified, experienced in training and real lifesaving scenarios, so we have more than just theoretical knowledge."
This ability to tailor training for different industries and environments has been a key driver of the business's growth and success.

A Flexible Partnership Model
Roger Abel Training Services highlights the versatility of the Approved Partner Program and the opportunities it creates for organisations of all sizes.
As a Training Partner, Roger is helping extend the reach of high-quality aquatic and safety training across Victoria while growing his business through alignment with a trusted and respected industry organisation.
Being recognised as an LSV Approved Partner demonstrates a commitment to quality, compliance and industry best practice. As Roger explains, the partnership confirms that his training programs are delivered to recognised industry standards while supporting LSV's mission to reduce aquatic-related injuries and fatalities across Victoria.
The value of that recognition is reflected in feedback from clients:
"Working with an LSV Approved Partner gives us complete confidence that staff are trained to the highest industry standard. Their programs are consistent, reliable, and aligned with the safety expectations of every major aquatic facility in Victoria."
For Roger, the partnership reflects a shared commitment to building safer communities through education, training and preparedness.
