At the beach, river, lake or pool

Duration:

Two hours
Option to book multiple days
Option to add a water safety in the classroom session
Option to add a second two hour beach carnival session
*Sporting Schools funding can be used for 2x two hour programs

Everyday Lifesavers (CPR)
Be Aware and Be Prepared (water safety)
Survival Strategies (life jackets)
Rescue Strategies
Safe Body Boarding

Cost:

$50 per student*

In the classroom

LSV’s incursion program teaches students about water safety from the expertise of a surf lifesaver. This interactive experience empowers students to stay safe in a range of aquatic environments

Venue:

Delivered as an incursion, at your school or nominated venue

Duration:

1 hour (times can be flexible)

Program content:

Supervision: ‘Never swim alone’ and ‘Always swim with a friend’
Swim between the red and yellow flags
Identify people who can help you (role of a lifeguard)
Read the safety signs & check the conditions
Lifejacket safety
How to identify and avoid dangers
Know what to do in an emergency situation
SunSmart
Know your limits ‘Don’t drink and drown (senior programs only)

Participant Numbers:

Suggested maximum of 60 students per session

Cost:

$15 per student*

Lifesaving education holiday programs

At the beach, river, lake or pool - School Holiday Program, 2023/2024

Our Lifesaving Education programs run in regional areas through the school holidays (often called Bush Nippers) is a regional and rural inland adaptation to coastal nipper education programs and our successful open water learning experience/ lifesaving education programs, which aims to build lifesaving and water safety knowledge and skills of children aged 5 to 14 years in open water environments. Lifesaving education programs can be delivered at the beach, river, lake or pool.

Swimming and water safety is required to be taught in health and physical education as part of the Victorian Curriculum. Lifesaving Education Programs also work towards several components of the Victorian Water Safety Certificate (VWSC),  which all students should be aiming to achieve by the time they finish primary school.
